Patchwork Zakatala
Zakatala rug rag patchwork
Zakatala, more commonly referred to as rag rug, is a traditional weaving style made from recycling household textiles into carpets. These fabrics are cut into very thin threads and used in the weft of the carpet. The warp is made of either goat hair or cotton spun with a spindle. This weaving technique is found in many countries but it’s without a doubt in southern Anatolia, in the Taurus Mountains, that this style reaches its peak thanks to the variety of styles and colors.
We collect these old weavings in the villages and turn them into patchworks. All of these rugs have a backing.
